Teeth Whitening
Teeth Whitening Dentist in Cannock
Alterations in teeth colour can happen as you grow older, eat certain foods, and live certain lifestyles. Drinks like coffee, tea, and other coloured beverages can stain teeth over time. Smoking can discolour your teeth. Hardened dental plaque-like calculus or tartar buildup can change the natural colour of your teeth as well. Even some antibiotics can stain the teeth.
With expert teeth whitening, the existing colour of your teeth can be improved without taking out any of the tooth surfaces. So, if you’re considering teeth whitening in Burntwood, we can help you.
There are two options that can bleach your teeth:
- In-surgery Laser Whitening
- Personalised Home-whitening Kit
These two options contain an active ingredient known as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. Before bleaching your teeth, our expert dentist will check if you’re eligible for tooth whitening, and choose the best treatment for you.

In-surgery Laser Whitening
You can get laser whitening at our dental clinic in Cannock. It begins with applying or rubbing a rubber gel to your gums to protect them from the whitening agent. Thereafter, a whitening product is applied to the surface of each tooth and activated with a laser.
With laser whitening, your teeth can become about 5 or 6 times brighter in one treatment session. However, this change in shade may differ from person to person.
If your teeth have been discoloured after a root filling, applying the whitening gel from the inside can bleach your teeth as well.
Based on teeth whitening regulations, the highest amount of the active hydrogen peroxide that can be used in whitening is 6%. For carbamide peroxide, the highest concentration is 16%.
Home-Whitening Kit
This option will require taking impressions of your teeth to produce a special tray like a mouth guard that fits your mouth perfectly. When the personalised trays are ready, your dentist will give you whitening syringes and teach you how to add the product to the trays before placing them on your teeth. The number of times you’ll apply the whitening gel depends on the severity of discolouration and the desired whiteness. So, you’ll apply the product for 30 to 60 minutes at a time, for 2 to 4 weeks.

Post-whitening treatment
Side effects of teeth whitening don’t last long and will disappear within a few days to complete the treatment. One common side effect people experience is teeth sensitivity. But we’ll provide you with a special toothpaste that will help. People also report discomfort in the gums, sore throat, or white patches in the gum line. For any side effect, kindly see your dentist.
After whitening your teeth, the effect may last up to 3 years, but it’s different for each person. Your lifestyle and diet influence the effect. You can get a whitening toothpaste from the market to sustain the whitening effect.
Teeth whitening is exclusive for natural teeth; it doesn’t bleach artificial teeth like veneers and the rest. Call us today to consult our dentist for more advice.
